As a stock broker having been trained on Wall Street by a major brokerage house, I quickly became aware that the investment industry is heavily driven by selling pre-packaged products and commissions.  Over the years, I have found that many investment newsletters operate in a similar fashion.

There are two basic types of newsletters: those operated by publishers and those run by money managers.  What I have learned the hard way is that publishers of newsletters seem to put selling more newsletters ahead of the more important goal of making their clients money.

In my opinion, the reality is that you need both a good newsletter and a good broker.  If one of your investment objectives is to make above average returns over the long haul with minimal risk, you need someone knowledgeable in asymmetric investment strategies; which most newsletters don't specialize in.

I’m not going to talk about brokers in this article, but if you are not a crowd follower, I do have information below about a group called Capitalist Exploits that is worth investigating.  In fact, their Insider Weekly Newsletter specializes in high quality deep value assets and intellectually sound asymmetric risk - reward opportunities.

Contrarian investment newsletters - asymmetric investing vs. traditional investing.

Contrarian investment newsletters - asymmetric investing vs. traditional investing.

Prior to my career with Dean Witter, I remember coming out of a meeting at Volkswagen of America with probably the best lesson I have ever learned.  VW was transitioning from the heydays of the Beetle to the strange looking Rabbit.  Without boring you with all the details, it was an entirely different product that needed a unique marketing campaign.

Looking back, it was obvious to me that VW was the Apple of the automotive industry.  It reminds me of IBM’s slogan, Think vs. Apple’s tag line, Think Different.  VW chose to think different, and they were wildly successful.

Unlike traditional strategies, with asymmetric investing you stand to gain more; but more importantly, you stand to lose less on a smaller percentage of your investment.  This is contrary to many traditional investments that fall prey to overall market fluctuations.

Chris MacIntosh heads up the The Insider, and has founded and built several multi-million dollar businesses in the investment world.  He targets investments with potential for above average returns even if he is right only 25% of the time.  This is just one of the metrics that sets The Insider Weekly apart from the other newsletters out there.

Asymmetric risk reward investments - are all investment newsletters worth it?

Asymmetric risk reward investments - are all investment newsletters worth it?

The obvious answer is "no".  The writers of The Insider Newsletter are dedicated to finding asymmetric risk-reward investment opportunities.  Chris takes it to the next level.  The Capitalist Exploits Insider Newsletter tracks capital flows and other trends to uncover maximum values, and provides ways to capitalize on that intelligence.

Their ideas can be off the beaten path, but that is how they achieve great returns.  The contributors each have their own views, but ultimately, they rely on global macro analysis combined with specialist knowledge and patience to achieve an advantage over market fluctuations.

The key difference with The Insider Newsletter is that the articles are written by professional money managers, who have worked across the world for some of the most reputable names in finance, as well as managing private wealth.  They are not journalists or analysts who've turned to publishing, and who do not face consequences for making wrong calls.  They have no skin in the game.

Another reason this newsletter is unique is that all contributors participate with their own capital in what they recommend to you.  They make their money by investing in those same ideas.  As a result, they have a TrustPilot average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars.  Suffice it to say, based on the reviews a bit further down on this page, the value their newsletter provides is measurable.

The Insider service provided by Chris and his team is outstanding.  The information and people behind it are truly top shelf.  They provide a perspective that few others dare to publish which is very refreshing.  This service is worth every penny.  Wade W.

Worth 50-100x the Cost. Easy. Great material. I love it.  The research coincides with my own investing style and when there's an overlap I put down 2-3x what I would.  This is the kind of research you want to be paying for year after year for decades because it introduces you to new things.  Great for people with no time to be fully exposed to everything going on out there. It took me 45-50 days to make back my investment in the course in profit on positions. B Hartley.

Can't add much to the positive reviews already given. Absolutely love Cap Ex. Long-term plays, be patient.  Best newsletter BY FAR that I have ever subscribed to. Keith S.

Excellent research and also very entertaining the way it is written!  Jan P.

Top Notch I've been an investor for over 20 years.  Subscribed to a few investment newsletters over that time.  This is by far the best service I've come across.  The research is thorough, well thought out and presented in a clear way.  This is not for those looking to get rich quick.  This is for those looking to get in before the crowd.  Wayne Gretzky said "I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.”  Same principle applies for investing.  You will not be disappointed.  Gary

Great content and simple to follow.  I love the emails sent and the website setup.  It's simple to search around for different articles.  I wish I could of had this investing info years ago!  I would be much further ahead in investing.  I would recommend this company to anyone who is serious about investing and wants to learn. D. Snow

CapEx is a rare gem.  CapEx is a truly rare service that gives you superbly-researched contrarian investment ideas with asymmetrical risk payoff potential that you will simply not find anywhere else.  Chris MacIntosh and his team are true pros.  They also share a wealth of professional knowledge on trade execution and risk management tradecraft.  I love it, not least of all because it has made me money while helping me sleep at night with wise risk management.  Well worth the reasonable price.  Tim H.

Exactly what it says on the box In Python terms, this is truly the Something Completely Different. Helpful to understand what the author's "angle" is, and he makes it explicitly obvious (not always the case elsewhere).  Fundamental assumptions (usually the polite term for biases) are well documented and thoroughly explained.  The insider's viewpoint is particularly valuable, coupled with other voices of cynical, yet opportunistic, experience.  Boris S.

My top newsletter. Top asymmetric trades with huge upsides, low downside and help bulletproof your portfolio.  Not for get rich quickers, this takes time and study. T he team at Capitalist Exploits is the best in the business and truly care about their subscribers.  John

Capitalist Exploits Insider Newsletter is definitely worth a read.

Even if you're satisfied with the investment advice you're getting, or if you're in search of a unique approach to wealth building, The Insider Weekly from Capitalist Exploits is worth checking out.  The writers have their own money in the game, so their goals are perfectly aligned with yours.  And that makes all the difference in the world in my book.
